USPS : Mr. Zip
Character Modernization, Positioning, Brand Extension and Style Guide
In the 1960’s the USPS created Mr. Zip, a character used to promote and encourage everyone to include a Zip Code on all mail. In honor of Mr. Zip’s 60th anniversary, Mr. Zip was reintroduced and reimagined.
Mr. Zip started on the forefront of innovation with the introduction of the zip code and has now been reinvented! He has a natural talent and passion for understanding how things work, is ready to take on new adventures, learn new things, and show up wherever he can be of assistance with a mail bag of tips, tricks, and tools, he and his feathered friend B. Franklin the Eagle, and Farley the official USPS mail collection box, are at-the-ready to empower learning while having fun.
Alternatives worked with USPS and licensing agency Global Icons to develop an updated storyline and character visualization for Mr. Zip, B. Franklin, and Farley, that would capture the imagination of kids, brand fans and collectors.
Mr. Zip and friends have been brought to life as animated characters on Blippi, the popular YouTube children’s series.
